What exactly does it take to go from an egg to an adult bee? Is it the same process as a butterfly or an octopus? Join us during Spring Break to learn how some of our favorite tiny giants transform through fun games, crafts and live animal encounters.

Monday March 23: Butterflies and Moths

                Does a butterfly make a cocoon or chrysalis? What s the difference? Join us in this tropical day to learn all about how butterflies and moths transform to the beautiful flying insects we see around the world.

Tuesday March 24: Under Water

                Do sea creatures like coral, sea jellies and octopuses transform like caterpillars into butterflies? Or is their transformation completely different? Dive down deep with us to learn about marine invertebrate life cycles and witness some of these amazing animals up close.

Wednesday March 25: Beetles, Ants and Bees

                Does the larva of a beetle, ant or bee look similar to a moth? How are they different? Buzz on over as we step inside the homes of these mighty workers to see how their transformation is completed.

Thursday March 26: Plants

                Do plants go through a transformation similar to bees or coral? Do they transform at all? Grow with us as we learn about different parts of the plant and how they survive based on where they live.

Friday March 27: Incomplete Metamorphosis

                Lots of animals and plants transform but do they all transform with the same stages? Explore with us as we discover the different ways our animals and plants grow up.

Summer Camp Week 11

- Camp Week 11: August 10-14 – Time Travelers - Can you imagine a dragonfly bigger than a hawk? A millipede as big as a car? Aliens living among us? In this camp we will travel back in time to the Carboniferous period when giant arthropods ruled the earth and imagine what a sci-fi future could look like. We will study fossils, make life-size replicas, and meet some of their modern day cousins.

We are bringing back a favorite camp for an even more in-depth and up close look into the life of a Zookeeper!  Are your kids always bringing home bugs?  Do they love taking care of animals?  In this camp, we are going behind the scenes of Butterfly Pavilion to see what it takes to be a Zookeeper.  We ll meet real Zookeepers & get to care for our very own animals!

 

Been to this camp before? We will go even more in depth and explore different animals with our expert keepers and educators.
