Butterfly Pavilion Rainforest Yoga

Experience a rejuvenating yoga class in our tropical rainforest. Led by one of our rotating instructors, classes provide an amazing opportunity to transcend the hustle and bustle of daily life as you practice amongst the butterflies in our conservatory.

Refunds/Transfers: If you are no longer able to attend, please contact Butterfly Pavilion 48 hours before your class and you will be given the option to transfer your registration to a different date. No refunds are given once the class has been purchased, unless Butterfly Pavilion cancels the class for any reason.  No transfers will be allowed after the class has ended if the participant is unable to attend. 

 

Butterfly Quest After Hours

Are you interested in learning about the fascinating life of butterflies? Look no further than Butterfly Quest, a community science initiative designed to track the lifespans of butterflies in our conservatory. 

Join us for Butterfly Quest After Hours and become a butterfly researcher for the evening! Learn about proper tagging techniques and identify tagged butterflies as they flutter around our beautiful conservatory. 

Butterfly Pavilion educators will guide you through this incredible experience, and provide you with expert knowledge and insight into the world of butterflies. 

Be a community scientist and discover the magical world of butterflies. You can help provide invaluable information for Butterfly Pavilion s butterfly conservation efforts and understanding the lifecycles of these incredible creatures.

Butterfly Scientific Illustration

Join Butterfly Pavillion and Scientific Illustrator Marjorie Leggitt in a 3-hour workshop on learning the art of scientific illustration of butterflies. Scientific illustration is art fused with science. In this workshop, you will do more than just illustrate and will learn to observe and render subjects in a scientifically accurate way.

Create a Terrarium Workshop

Free same-day admission after the class concludes.

Join us for a fun event creating miniature naturescapes called "miniworlds" with The Terrorium Shop

The Terrorium Shop is Denver's home for unique art combined with natural history. They are most known for their miniworlds. Glass displays featuring real dried floral, insects, bones, crystals and other elements from the natural world, forever encased in a glass dome.

In this class each participant will get their very own 2.75 x 4  glass dome with cork base, choice of 1 pinned Colotis Regina butterfly or 1 Heliconius Doris butterfly, an assortment of dried botanicals, crystals and optional bones.

 

Evening Outdoor Yoga

Experience the ultimate relaxation with our evening outdoor yoga class at the Butterfly Pavilion. Connect with nature and enjoy the serene backdrop of our vibrant Discovery Gardens while you unwind on our peaceful patio. Take in the fresh air and listen to the melodic chirping of birds as you move through your yoga poses. Rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul and leave feeling revitalized. Join us for an unforgettable yoga experience in a stunning natural environment.

Family Rainforest Yoga

Nurture the family's love for nature in Family Rainforest Yoga! Class is held in our warm indoor garden where hundreds of Butterflies live!

Yoga movements will coordinate with a fun lesson or story about nature, butterflies, or the plants they love in a fun and engaging way that's sure to keep everyone's interest! Practicing yoga helps build body awareness, strength and flexibility in both young and old! Partner poses are a fun addition to class to connect, play and build communication skills with each other, don't worry if you are an odd numbered group!

Please wear comfortable clothes, (wear bright colors to increase your chances of butterfly kisses) bring a water bottle, yoga mat or beach towel for each human in attendance! Rainforest Family Yoga is sure to leave a lasting impression, create beautiful memories together and educate the family about our worlds beautiful winged friends!

Elementary aged kids, 5-10 are recommended for this hour long class. Can't wait to see you there!

Father's Day Craft Workshop

Pollinator habitat - home for bees, butterflies, beetles, and more is declining. Join Butterfly Pavilion to create a safe place for bees when you build your own bee box on Father s Day. 

Participants will be supplied with all the tools and instructions to build and decorate their very own bee box while learning about native bees, who you can expect to use your bee box, and what more you can do to help protect and conserve all pollinators.

Come celebrate Dad and pollinators together and build a bee box at Butterfly Pavilion this Father s Day!

Price: $75 for non-members, $60 for members (waived entrance fee for nonmembers) * 

Includes waived fee for two admission tickets and group rate admission for any additional admission tickets.

Macro Photography 2023

Whether you’re a paparazzi or can’t figure out your camera, phone, join expert photographer Bob Krugmire for hands-on instruction that will teach you to maximize the potential of your camera! Leave with better skills, knowledge, and tons of fantastic close-up shots.  Space is limited!  Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.

Photo Hour

Relish a quiet hour of evening light/golden hour photography in the tropical rainforest after we close our doors to the public. Snap photos of beautiful butterflies and exotic tropical flowers in the evening light. Sessions are offered monthly and begin at 5:00pm.

Cost:  $10 for non-members, $8.00 for members. Note: This session is self-guided. Participants supply own equipment.

Sensory Friendly Afternoons at Butterfly Pavilion

Here at Butterfly Pavilion, we know that things can get pretty hectic with busy butterflies, bees and bodies buzzing around during the day. Join us for a low-sensory morning before we open to the public that meets the needs of families that need to experience the Pavilion in a different way. With natural lighting, quiet tones, and limited admission – this experience offers your little one an enjoyable, low-key experience just for them. Each Sensory Friendly Afternoon offers guided interpretation in each exhibit, optional activity guides, and an interactive Storytime program.

June 5: Pollinator 101 - What is a pollinator? How does pollination work? Come explore what pollinators are and why we need them.

June 12: Pollinating Plants - Students will be scientists and dissect flowers to discover how pollination works.

June 19: Honeybees - Explore the world of honeybees and what makes them powerful pollinators.

June 26: Solitary Bees - Did you know not all bees live in a hive and make honey? Discover the incredible world of solitary bees and how many live in our backyards.

July 10: Bumblebees - Have you ever seen fuzzy bumblebees? In this session, students will explore the world of bumblebees and what makes them powerful pollinators.

July 17: Spectacular Butterflies - Butterflies are more than just beautiful; they are powerful pollinators! In this hands-on class, students will discover what makes butterflies pollinators.

July 24: Beautiful Beetles - Are beetles pollinators? Have you ever heard of mess and soil pollination? Student scientists will discover what makes beetles powerful pollinators.

July 31: Unlovable Pollinators - Not all pollinators are cute and cuddly, some are some common unlovable bugs. Students will discover the wide variety of pollinators in this hands-on class.

August 7: Colorado Pollinators - Come discover the powerful pollinators that live here in Colorado with us and explore how we can help them survive.

August 14: Plant Partners - Did you know that some plants only have one pollinator! Through an interactive game, students will discover how special pollinators are and why plants need them.

August 21: Pollinator Trivia - Come test your pollinator knowledge in this interactive class and play some fun pollinator games.

August 28: Pollinator Conservation - Discover what you can do to help save pollinators in this interactive citizen science class.
